January is the first month of the year, according to the Gregorian and Julian calenders.1st day of January is New Year's Day. It starts at midnight on December 31. This marks the end of an old year and a new year.

The Gregorian calendar is used as a civil calendar in almost all countries.

For example, in some cultures, Hindu, Nepal, Chinese, Islamic, and Jewish lunar calendars are in vogue. In these countries, people celebrate according to the first day of the first month of their calenders.In some countries people celebrate on March 1,March 25,Easter,September 1,and December 25. However, they also celebrate New Year's Day on January 1 and the 1st day of their calenders.

How to celebrate: People celebrate the day according to their desires. Usually, people enjoy this day with their families and friends and make it memorable. On new years day, people eat mouth-watering delicacies. Many people take a resolution to change themselves for good and set new goals to achieve. Some people start new work. We plan new actions to improve our lives.

Bad Things about new years eve:

Some ingest excess alcohol on this auspicious day, which may end in quarrels, and this may cause accidents.

We may enjoy New years day without alcohol and with control.

Quarter days: The days that begin each quarter of the year. These days, rents should be paid, and houses or lands entered upon or quitted.

4. December 25-Christmas Day
